SELF SERVE made a big impression when winning at her 3rd start for the stable on Saturday at the Darwin Turf Club.
The 4YO was an online purchase by the stable for $16,000 after 8 starts with leading Victorian trainer Danny O’Brien. The winning prizemoney ensuring her purchase price was well and truly covered for connections in just 3 starts.
“I’d seen her come up in the sale and she ticked the initial boxes of having proven form and a desire to jump and travel at a high speed. There’s a few of us that work on these tried horses so we got to work and completed our due diligence. We speak with the trainers , stable staff, vets and jockeys that have ridden these horses. She was the first of 3 we’ve purchased with a new set up so it’s nice to see her win by almost 5 lengths.”
Tommy Logan shared that he felt she had been a little unlucky at her first two starts for the camp ” She ran into Viaconi at her first start and he just flew out in front whilst she was learning about it all on the dirt. She found theline nicely for second that day and then copped a good bit of interference at her second start. We were really pleased with what she was doing at home so it’s good to see connections get the result.”
“We’ve had a really great response from connections with these purchases. It’s humbling to get such quick responses when we let people know about our purchases. They’ve all been sold within days and it’s nice to also see a lot of new names and faces get into racing in Darwin.”
Whilst Sonja Logan is out recovering from a raceday barrier incident the Tommy Logan team have been well supported by Hannah Le Blanc.
“Hannah has been brilliant. She’s been committed to coming and riding for the stable and she’s really connected to each horse and what makes them tick. Her feedback and our insights has been a good reason whilst we are striking at the levels we are for a small team.”
“We’ll be saddling a couple of new horses in the next month or so and Jumping Power Two has returned to the stable so there’s plenty to be positive about.” shared Tommy Logan
